Witchcraft is Still Illegal!
63Witchcraft is Still Illegal in Canada
The fact that it is still a crime to be a witch in the Great White North has come to light when Yogendra Pathak, a Brampton, Ontario, man was charged with witchcraft. According to the Criminal Code of Canada, sorcery is an indictable offence. So will cops be out on the hunt for those dressed as witches and warlocks this Halloween?
Pathak was not a warlock in the way that it was his hobby. Instead he claimed that he could summon up spirits to help people solve financial or health problems. And his clients were chargedĀ a hefty fee.
Police have stressed the fact that they don't care if you practise sorcery-just don't go around defrauding those so gullible as to believe in that sort of thing.
So it's a relief to know that law enforcement won't be out in full force this Halloween rounding up school kids who are dressed like they practise the occult. It's interesting to note that according to the law, they could hand-cuff them if they wanted too.
As for Yogendra Pathak? Should he be held accountable for witchcraft? Is the Canadian justice system going to throw him in Lake Superior and see whether he sinks or swims?
I say FREE YOGENDRA PATHAK! Let's start a movement. Write letters to Canadian officials asking for poor Yogy to be freed.
Why defend this con artist?
Religion has been doing hocus pocus for how many thousands of years now and taking money for it. The only crime Yogy is guilty of is realizing that and going in for the opportunity.
